How to use welded mesh as a forest protector

Welded wire mesh is a versatile material made of galvanized wire welded into squares that, in addition to being used for fences and cages, serves as an excellent forest protector. When used as reforestation mesh, it surrounds and protects young trees from rodent attacks and, when combined with tube protectors, offers additional defense against herbicides and harsh weather conditions.

Would you like to know how welded mesh can be used as a plant protector?

Autumn arrives and with it, the planting of new crops. But like any plant in its early stages of growth, it will need to be protected from various external agents. Among these, adverse weather conditions such as frosts and possible attacks from animals like rodents.

To protect our youngest plants from all these agents, there are different protectors on the market, such as mesh or tubular protectors. However, today at GARDEN WEB we want to talk to you about using welded mesh as a forest protector for trees and other crops.

What is welded mesh and what is it used for?

Before explaining how welded mesh is used as a plant protector, let's first explain what this product is. As we defined in this article, welded mesh is a product composed of galvanized wire that is welded into squares. Thanks to this characteristic, this material stands out for its lightness and easy handling, making it suitable for various uses.

Among its uses, welded mesh is mainly used for building cages for small animals and metal fences to enclose plots such as orchards. It is also applied as a support for some climbing plants.

How is welded mesh used as reforestation mesh?

In addition to the previous uses, metal mesh can also be used as reforestation mesh.

Also known as metal forest mesh, it is a lightweight panel made of galvanized wire joined with steel ring staples, which surrounds and protects young trees from possible attacks by rodents. Although this type of mesh is generally made with finer wire, rolls of welded mesh can be perfectly used to build our own reforestation mesh.
