Would you like to have your own aromatic herb garden inside your home? In this GARDEN WEB post, we show you how to grow them.
Aromatic herbs are always an excellent option to start growing plants indoors. On the one hand, if you are new to horticulture, you will find that these types of species are easier to cultivate than others. And on the other hand… who wouldn't want to have their own aromatic plants to use instantly in any cooking recipe?
For these reasons, in the following GARDEN WEB post, we provide you with some basic notions for having aromatic herbs in the kitchen.
What plants should I choose for my own aromatic garden?
This question is easy to answer. Although we have to take into account the planting calendar and the characteristics of each plant, the reality is that in our garden we should plant the aromatic herbs that we are going to use in our dishes. That is: what's the point of striving to grow basil if we're not going to use it in any recipe?
List of aromatic herbs we can plant at home

Below, we provide a list of all the aromatic plants that we can plant at home:
-
Rosemary: although this plant is for outdoors, it is also suitable for growing indoors.
-
Bay leaf: its leaves are excellent for any recipe and ideal for indoors as it does not need much light.
-
Basil: it is a plant with an incredible aroma, also suitable for indoor cultivation.
-
Spearmint: if you have a kitchen with direct sunlight, this is an ideal plant for your aromatic garden.
-
Tarragon: it is not as common as the previous ones, but also a good option if we have a kitchen with a lot of natural light.
-
Mint: like the previous ones, it is an indoor plant that requires natural light.
-
Cilantro: if you like Canarian food recipes, this aromatic herb will be essential in your kitchen.
-
Parsley: in what recipe do we not use this aromatic plant?
Now you know some of the aromatic plants you can have indoors. Now you just need to choose which ones you are going to grow.
What soil is recommended for my aromatic pots?
As these are crops that will mainly be in small pots, it is best that we choose a quality, nutrient-rich substrate. In our online store, you can find universal substrate suitable for urban gardens due to its nutritional variety.

As for fertilizer, it is always better to opt for natural ones such as compost or humus, but some chemical ones can help us quickly correct a nutritional deficiency or an excess in some value. In this aspect, we have a wide variety of specific fertilizers that will serve you for any type of plant.
Pots for aromatic plants: which to choose
Aromatic herbs are not demanding plants in terms of the type of pot to grow them in. Perhaps the most recommended material is plastic since terracotta is very porous and we will have to be mindful of watering the plants, or on the contrary, glass can cause an excess of humidity.

As for size, we recommend that they be neither too large nor too small (to avoid transplants). In our online store, we have a wide variety of planters, but for aromatic plants, we recommend the Casiopea decorative planter where you can grow several herbs.
Do you already know which aromatic plants you are going to add? Well, now it's time to make your purchase of gardening products so that you have everything you need for your urban garden.
You already know that aromatic plants are not very difficult to care for or maintain, so they can adapt to any type of urban garden. However, although you don't need to be a gardening expert, these plants (like any others) will need some materials to be in perfect condition.

At GARDENWEB, we have everything essential for you to add aromatic species to your garden, such as quality substrate, planters and functional and designer pots, and other gardening accessories such as irrigation material, gloves, and plant labels, among others.
