Do you want to plant a tree in your garden but don't know how? Here are some tips to help you succeed.
We receive many inquiries and questions from users about how to plant trees without harming their development or damaging them during transplanting. That's why today we decided to write this post on GARDEN WEB, where we will try to explain step by step how to plant a tree in your urban garden in the best possible way.
Step 1: Find out what type of soil you have in your garden

The first thing we should consider when planting a tree is the soil, as planting in clay or sandy soil is not the same, nor is the acidity of the soil. All of this will determine water retention, oxygenation, and nutrient absorption capacity. These factors directly influence the type of tree that is most suitable for planting in the soil.
Step 2: Calculate if you have space for the new tree
Before you get to work, another aspect you need to consider is the space in your urban garden. That is, you will have to make sure to leave enough space between the trees you are going to plant.
This is because the roots must have the capacity for their development and growth, as well as the trunk and the crown of the tree so that it grows upright and straight and is not forced to one side due to insufficient space.
Step 3: Dig a hole with sufficient capacity for the tree
Something that goes along with space and that we will do in third place is the depth of the hole for planting. This is crucial for the roots to firmly grip the soil and quickly regain their vigor and begin optimal growth in the shortest possible time. Ideally, the hole should be three times the perimeter of the pot and have a trapezoidal shape to promote root growth.
Other tips for planting a tree in a garden

In addition to the previous steps, it will be advisable to follow these tips for success:
Give importance to the drainage of your garden
Something optional but no less important is to include a drainage system, as this will maintain the appropriate humidity at all times for proper development, but, as we say, it is something optional that we can do without.
Be careful with the tree when planting it
We will not bury the plant or tree below its neck, or, in other words, we will plant it at the same height it was in the container or pot where it previously grew.
Do not compact the soil too much
Nor should the soil be compacted too much, which means not stepping on the earth with force, since, despite needing firmness, it must also remain aerated and have enough space for the roots to settle. Finally, we will carry out good watering that soaks enough but without causing waterlogging.
