When you can plant tomatoes

The best time to plant tomatoes is between early and mid-spring, when the last frosts typical of this time of year have passed. Although we can plant it directly, it is advisable that if you are a beginner, you do it in a seedbed first, as this will significantly increase your chances of success. In this case, we can do it between late winter and early spring. This way, we will advance the entire process by about 4 weeks.
How to sow tomatoes in a seedbed – STEP BY STEP
Now that we know when we can start planting, below we explain with a simple step-by-step how to sow tomatoes in a seedbed:
Buy everything you need to sow the seeds beforehand:
In our online store you can find cell trays, substrate, coconut fiber, and different sizes and models of pots in case you are going to transplant the tomatoes into a container later.
Once you have everything ready, prepare the seedbeds:
Add to each cell of the forest trays one part substrate, one part coconut fiber, and one part worm humus. It is also advisable to add a little vermiculite and perlite to further enrich the mixture.
Add the seeds to the seedbeds:
Make small holes with your finger, no more than 1 centimeter deep, and scatter the seeds in them.

In addition to the previous guidelines, to successfully sow, you will need to water the substrate generously to keep it moist for 10-15 days. It is also important that during these days you keep the seedbeds in a warm and well-lit place. After 4-6 weeks, your tomato plants should be ready to be planted in their final location.
How to plant tomatoes in a pot
Now that you have sown the tomatoes, we will explain how to plant them in a pot:
-
Cover the bottom of the pot with a layer of worm humus and then fill it with universal substrate.
-
Make a hole in the soil that is slightly larger than the root ball and then bury it in it.
-
In case you have chosen a planter and want to plant several root balls in it, leave a distance of 40-50 centimeters between each tomato plant.
-
Once the tomato plant is transplanted, water the tomato plants: however, try to wet the soil and not the plant.
Our tomato plants will now be planted in the pots. Now all you have to do is take care of them daily to see the fruits of your labor in the future.
