To grow this plant in a pot, we recommend you follow these steps:

  1. First, you will need to add a few seeds of this plant to a pot and cover them with a substrate known as vermiculite.

  2. After two weeks, the seeds will likely have germinated. Choose the strongest sprout and remove the weaker ones.

  3. Now you need to transplant them into a pot that is approximately 40 centimeters in diameter. In our online store you can find several pots of this size.

  4. Once you have chosen the pot, it will be time to prepare the substrate for this plant. For this plant, we will need loose soil, so we recommend that you mix two parts of black soil with coarse sand.

  5. When placing the pot with the chamomile, you will need to choose a place where it receives plenty of sunlight but without direct sun exposure.

  6. When most of the plant's flowers have opened, it will be time to harvest. Collect those that are fully open, trying not to cut any leaves or stems.

  7. Now let them dry on paper in a dark, cool place.

Finally, when you have finished harvesting, prune the chamomile plant to give it new life.

Now that we know how to grow chamomile, here are some tips for caring for it:

  • Substrate: Chamomile needs well-draining soil, so the soil doesn't have to be excessively rich in organic material. However, it is advisable to add a little worm castings annually.

  • Location: Chamomile requires an area with good light. However, in very hot outdoor areas, it will need to be in partial shade.

  • Watering: We recommend using a drip irrigation system as it does not tolerate excess humidity.

  • Pests: Chamomile is often attacked by thrips and aphids. In the article "The most common summer pests," we explain how to combat them.
