As with other crops and vegetables, aloe vera is a shrub that requires specific care to keep it in good condition. Therefore, below we give you a basic guide on how to care for an aloe vera plant:

  • Lighting: this plant requires a lot of light so it is important to place it in an area of your house or garden where it can receive many hours of sun.

  • Watering: the aloe vera plant does not require much water. It is advisable to water it when you notice the soil where it is planted is dry and cracked. In fact, overwatering can rot its leaves.

  • Soil: since there is a risk of it rotting due to excess humidity, the soil for growing aloe vera must have good drainage to prevent water from accumulating. It is advisable to fertilize the plant once a year with specific fertilizer for succulents. We recommend our universal substrate for this task.

Another problem that may appear in our plant is precisely due to the opposite reason to the previous one: lack of watering. This problem can be checked by observing the tips of the plant. If you notice that they are dry and brownish, it means that the plant is consuming the water from its own leaves, so you will have to increase the watering frequency.

Finally, another disease that can affect aloe vera is due to lighting. Although we have indicated that it needs a lot of light for optimal growth, it is also true that in very hot climates it is advisable to move the plant to a semi-shaded place during midday to avoid damaging it.
